United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC):
Because of increasing concerns over the rising levels of GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions into the earth’s atmosphere from industrialized nations, the UNFCCC treaty was entered into by most countries in 1992. This was the beginning of formal considerations revolving around the issue of how to minimize the impact that industrialization has had over the decades on the earth’s atmosphere and climate change.
