The Philippine flood

Abgelegt in Mother Earth

The Philippine flood, Washi, which took place on the 16th to 18th on December of 2011, killed a total of 1,249 people in the cities Cagayan De Oro area and Iligan, with the worst affected island definitely being Mindanao. It was a devastating landslide which hurt so much people, with most of them even sleeping during the time when the everything was taking place.

Those who live in the higher areas of the Philippines like in Quezon City, were luckily not harmed in any way. Washi was a huge disaster, and it’s a terrible flashflood that many have wished did not happen. Despite the fact that over 1,000 people were killed, the disaster actually caused over 300,000 people to go homeless because of the devastating landslide.

What has President Benigno Aquino III done to help?
The Philippines’ President is Benigno Aquino III who has done quite a lot to help those who were devastated by the flood. For the first part, he decided to help visit those who were in those areas and providing them the necessary food they needed. Aside from simply helping them, he also sent a huge amount of rescue workers, soldiers, and firemen to help out in the area. Alongside the President during different times, most of the celebrities from GMA Network decided to help as well by also providing food and extra shelter during such trying times for those who were left homeless.

What can I do to help?
The best way to help is to send some funds their way to help build up the entire area again for those with no homes. You can easily send funds through several foundations on the internet by simply sending money using your PayPal account.

The entire Philippines was shocked when the landslides swept by, as none were expecting something so big to come to pass. Rain and wind was expected, but not so much a big flood. Luckily, the President and GMA Network are doing their very best to provide help for those who have been devastated by the catastrophe. May we all wish the homeless victims in Mindanao, Cagayan De Oro, and Iligan, a life filled with beautiful blessings in the future.
